What Is A Super Food?

Super foods are exceptionally high in nutrition, and have health benefits above and beyond the basic functioning of average foods. The best super foods are the raw and living super foods that are high in pytonutrients, and antioxidants. Super foods are considered functional food or medicinal food.

Raw nutrition expert and author, David Wolfe, has written several books on the importance of raw super food nutrition. His latest book, Superfoods: The Food and Medicine of the Future, focuses on the top ten super foods for optimal health and well-being; foods such as goji berries, raw cacao (raw chocolate), blue-green algae, maca, hemp and bee pollen, to name a few. Incorporating these raw foods into your daily diet will bring optimal health results, including increased energy, and longevity. I highly recommend this book for anyone who believes that great health can be achieved through natural means.

Since dark leafy greens are considered SUPER FOOD, I like to combine these greens with a few of David Wolfe’s “top ten” super foods for the best super-charged green smoothie ever! Goji berries go great with fruit smoothies, and with green smoothies. Hemp makes a great “seed” milk as an alternative to dairy, soy, or nut milks. Very flavorful, and packed with super nutrition. Blueberries are also considered a super food. Combine blueberries with raw cacao for a super-chocolaty, super-charged raw shake that will energize you and provide protection against disease and illness due to the high content of antioxidants. “Isn’t it great to know you don’t have to give up chocolate?
