Another great raw weekend!

So far this weekend has been joyful. On Friday night I took the time to tie-dye two t-shirts for my son. He planned to wear one for his 70’s party on Saturday – which he did. I had a lot of fun doing so, and plan to make more very soon. On Saturday morning, Brad (my son), and I went on a mission to find any type of accessory to wear with his tie-dye shirt. We couldn’t find anything, but settled on making a leather friendship wrist band like the hippies use to wear back in the 70’s. It’s amazing what you can remember how to do when you put your mind to it. I hadn’t macramé leather in over 20 years, but I remembered how to do it (with a little help form youtube.com), and made my son a wrist band for the party within 20 minutes before having to leave for the party. Amazing? Yes! The only other piece he needed was my old trusty handkerchief headband that I’ve had for years, which he thought was cool and finished the look off quite well. Needless to say, the girls loved the look when he was at the party, and they had an absolute blast!

While out shopping on Saturday, Brad and I stopped by Barnes & Noble Book Store, and I purchased another raw food book. This time I purchased a book by Baird Rodwell, called The Complete Book of Raw Food: Healthy, Delicious Vegetarian Cuisine Made with Living Foods. It’s pretty thick, so hopefully it’s packed with great info too. In addition to that book, today I went online and purchased signed copies of two books from Kate Wood, “Eat Smart Eat Raw“, and her latest release, “Raw Magic”, which I’m really looking forward to receiving. Hey, did I tell you that I also purchased the new DVD, “Food Matters”? Well if I didn’t, I’m telling you now. This is going to be one perfect documentary piece of great information and inspiration. You should pick up a copy for yourself! Seriously! Checkout the trailer

Anyway, like I said before this weekend has been quite joyful. Besides shopping for great books, and spending time with my son, I also found time to make a few more yummy raw goodies. I tried some more fabulous recipes from the http://www.goneraw.com/ site, as well as create a few of my own.

Well, one of the great smoothies I tried from http://www.goneraw.com/ this week was one called the Blueberry Lemon Tart Smoothie – and boy was it ever yummy! In fact, it was so good, my husband even tried it. And he doesn’t like “green stuff” in his smoothies ever! The recipe is very simple, healthy, and delicious – so try it for yourself.

For dinner yesterday, I decided to create a refreshing salad using raw corn as my base, and micro herbs for my greens. I came up with a very delicious and simple salad recipe that I think is perfect for summer. Check it out!

Summer Corn Salad:

Corn from two raw corn cobs
½ red, and 1 yellow bell pepper – seeded and chopped small
1-2 handfuls micro green herbs
¼ cucumber, peeled and chopped small
2-3 leaves fresh basil finely chopped
1 avocado peeled and seeded, chopped small
Squirt of Bragg’s Amino Acids
Dash sea salt
Dash favorite veggie spice blend

Mix and toss well with tongs, and serve.

While shopping with my son this weekend, I also purchased some more candy molds, because I’ve been feeling like making some more super charged chocolate. I did a little surfing on the Naked Chocolate site, and got inspired by one of the recipes. I think my creation came out quite well, and has great flavor. Plus, I definitely feel energized by them. Here’s my recipe:

Super Cashew Mocha Candy Rounds:
Inspired by Naked Chocolate…

1 cup and 2 scoops raw cacao powder
4 cups raw cacao butter (shaved or melted)
½ cup raw carob powder
½ cup raw agave nectar
2 tsp maca powder
2 tsp mesquite powder
2 tsp lucuma powder
3 emptied capsules Fo Ti-Sho
3 handfuls raw cacao nibs
1 cup ground raw cashews
4 spoonfuls coconut oil
2 spoonfuls organic maple syrup grade B
2 droppers chocolate flavored SweetLeaf Liquid Stevia
1 tsp organic vanilla extract (non alcohol)
dash ground cinnamon
dash ground cayenne pepper
dash ground vanilla powder

Place 1 cup of raw cacao powder in a food processor, and set the additional 2 scoops aside for later. Add the ground cashews, and remaining ingredients to the food processor. Mix ingredients very well until creamy. Mixture will not be smooth, but will be very creamy. Remove from food processor and place in a mixing bowl. Add remaining 2 scoops of raw cacao powder and mix well. Pour into silicon baking molds or in candy molds of choice. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour or more.

You can individually wrap candies and store in a container in a cool place, or keep them refrigerated for perfect form. These candies are super charged and super good! Enjoy!

And finally, this morning I was craving peaches. But I didn’t want the usual shake I’ve had before with peaches, and I didn’t want it alone or in a salad. So, I came up with this great, filling, and delicious peach smoothie – you just got to try it!

Super Peachy Morning Smoothie:

3 small bananas
1 ripe mango (peeled and seeded) (or 1 cup frozen mango chunks – I did ½ and ½)
3 peaches (seeded)
1 tsp maca
1 tsp lucuma
1 tsp hemp oil
1 tsp flax seed oil
1 handful goji berries
1 scoop raw protein powder
1 dropper SweetLeaf Liquid Stevia Clear
3 capsules emptied Wisdom Natural Brands Yerbe Mate Tabs
1 drizzle raw agave nectar
enough almond nut mylk to cover all ingredients, plus a little extra if needed for thinning
4 to 5 purified ice cubes

Place all ingredients in a blender, and puree on high until well blended and smooth. Thin if necessary with more nut mylk or even water. Makes about 2-4 full servings.

After drinking this peach smoothie, I am feeling quite charged and ready to go! Well, that’s it for now. I know I’ll have more to write later on. Have a fabulous Sunday and a great week ahead!

Peace! 🙂
